Dear Friends of The Crest,
The year of rest that was recommended by Nick’s doctors for him to heal has worked! “He’s Bach” as Arnold would say. As you may know, in February of 2021, Nick suffered a mycotic aneurysm rupture with catastrophic hemorrhaging that caused a stroke and endocarditis which led to open-heart surgery to replace the damaged valves. After the extraordinary care from his medical team, an outpouring of support from our friends, members & family, and Nick’s incredible drive to return to his former strong self, he now has a clean bill of health from the cardiologist and neurologist. He is back doing the part of the fitness business that he loves the most, helping people change their lives through proper fitness training & nutrition.
Nick’s road to recovery was not an easy one, but his perseverance was fueled by the love of his wife and the compassion and outpouring of support from loved ones, friends and the community.
Nick reached out to his friend Brian Autry, who now owns Transform Personal Training, about being an independent personal trainer at his brand-new studio and Brian’s answer was an assured ‘Yes’. Brian and his wife, Krista used to own Wilmington Lady Fitness, but after Covid, chose to downsize to a smaller studio. For the 1st time since 1998, Wanda will not be joining him on this venture. Currently she is the Wellness Coordinator at The Joint Chiropractic in Mayfaire until their new location opens sometime after October this year in The Crossroads at Independence Shopping Center near River Lights, where she will be the Senior Wellness Coordinator/Manager.
We know that some of you have moved away or are still living in the Wrightsville Beach area, but we also know that some of you have moved into the Monkey junction/Carolina Beach area. Nick already has a few of his former clients plus a few new client. Of course he is back to working out regularly with his lifetime friend our Mayor, Bill Saffo. He even has a stroke survivor that he trains 3 days a week in his home, that is currently where he was last March 2021. He is helping him to rebuild the left side of his body so he can return to function normally in his daily life. He can’t wait to take him to Transform to get him on the machines. This change was something that neither of us ever wanted, but just as Nick has always said, “You must keep moving forward, keep moving forward”.
Nick and Wanda Kentrolis
